Murdoch: If Santorum wins Michigan, 'game over'

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch weighed in on Rick Santorum's chances to secure the GOP nomination through Twitter this week, writing that if Santorum wins the upcoming primary in Michigan, it means "game over."

Murdoch tweeted Monday, "From distance, Santorum doing great. Values really do count in America, and not sneered at as in parts of Europe. Win Michigan game over."

Murdoch joined Twitter at the end of 2011 and his use of the microblogging service as a forum for political comments — as well as various other topics — immediately sparked debate over journalism and social media. Santorum has been one of his favorite and most scrutinized topics on Twitter. In one of his earliest tweets, he complimented the candidate on his performance in Iowa,the first state where Santorum surged. 

Santorum is a front-runner in the latest polls, running a neck-and-neck race with Mitt Romney in Michigan, which votes on Feb. 28. A Santorum win in Michigan would be stealing Romney's home state, which has been a major talking point in Romney's campaign. Romney won there over Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in 2008.
