The ad, created by Cain Solutions — one of Cain’s projects since dropping his White House bid last year — claims that the goldfish is “fine.” But the American Human Society and PETA both criticized the ad, which reportedly used a real goldfish.

The goldfish, which according to Cain is tweeting @Gorfin_Goldfish, shot back at PETA on Thursday by tweeting a link to an anti-PETA website.

Cain later updated his followers with another tweet to reassure them that his use of the common Twitter hashtag #FF did not have malicious intent.
