Three former Girl Scouts wish the organization ‘happy 100th’
Sen. Lisa Murkowski's (R-Alaska) favorite Girl Scout cookies are tagalongs, thin mints and samoas.
The female-oriented youth organization was founded exactly 100 years ago on March 12, 1912, and on Monday, former Girl Scouts and now Sens. Murkowski, Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) and Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) took to Twitter to honor their fellow scouts. Murkowski tweeted that she is celebrating with her favorite cookies, and tweeted a picture of three famous flavors along with an Alaska Statehood plate.
From a former Girl Scout, happy 100th! I'm celebrating with my favorite cookies: bit.ly/xwjXdj #GirlScouts100 twitter.com/lisamurkowski/…

Happy 100th, @girlscouts! As the mother of 2 daughters and former troop leader, thx for all you do to empower women everywhere! #Girl Scouts

Support for the Girl Scouts is a bipartisan affair on Capitol Hill — and it's not just among the "girls," either.
Congrats to the Girls Scouts on their 100th anniversary today. My daughter loves being one. (Great cookies, too.) yfrog.com/b6rsuj
