Obama campaign reboots, personalizes Biden on Twitter

Joe Biden is not the most prolific tweeter in politics these days, but gearing up for what's expected to be a fierce reelection battle, the vice president finally signed on to Twitter under his own name.

President Obama's campaign announced on Monday that it is "excited" to reboot Biden's Twitter presence in order to provide "news of the vice president on the trail."

Campaign staff will run this account to keep you up to date on what the VP's up to, but you'll see occasional tweets from Joe himself, too.

The vice president's office has an official Twitter account, @VP, which the vice president uses on a recurring basis to answer questions submitted by Twitter users through the hashtag #AskVP, but the new @JoeBiden account will be run by the Obama reelection campaign. President Obama's Twitter account, @BarackObama, is already staffed by the campaign.

Obama welcomed Biden's newly revamped presence to Twitter on Monday with a simple "Hello, Joe" tweet.
