Unfortunately, Barr’s first choice has already turned her down, tweeting in response that she would “consider EPA director” in a Barr administration.

Henning has already been close to one president, meeting President Obama in 2010 after winning a Goldman Environmental Prize for grassroots environmental activism.

Barr participated in a debate with Green Party candidate Jill Stein in San Francisco over the weekend, where she promised to offer “common sense direction to those in whom it is lacking, namely those in government.”

The third-party nomination will be decided at the Green Party National Convention, held in Baltimore in July. Vice presidential candidates are typically announced around the time of the official nomination.

Although Obama announced his vice presidential pick in 2008 to supporters through a text message, it would be unprecedented for the offer to appear on a political ticket to be made through Twitter.
