Misspelling in Romney iPhone app draws Twitter ridicule
A misspelling in Mitt Romney's newly released iPhone application is creating headaches for the campaign — and chuckles in the Twittersphere.
The new app, which allows users to customize photos from their phone with one of 14 "I'm with Mitt" slogans, was intended to allow supporters to brand images from their life with support for the Republican nominee. Users can then upload the pictures to social-networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
But while most of the slogans are innocuous — overlays like "I'm a Mom for Mitt" — one is raising eyebrows and occasioning laughs online. That option declares that Romney would usher in "A better Amercia," prominently misspelling the country's name.
Here's a selection of journalists having fun with the application Tuesday afternoon:

Won't you join @andybowers' lead and have your dog share @MittRomney's wish for "A Better Amercia"? Here's mine:twitpic.com/9qte94

The hashtag "Amercia" was at one point trending globally as users flooded the social network with images created using the application. And, as with all Internet memes, a Tumblr blog was quickly created to curate some of the submissions.
