Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Tuesday described President Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin, who met the previous day at the G-20 summit in Mexico, as “the two amigos.”

McCain has his own Twitter history with Putin.
Last year, McCain suggested in a tweet that Putin would have his own “Arab Spring” rebellion to deal with soon, and Putin, then prime minister, lashed out at the senator in a televised interview, suggesting he had gone “nuts” during his time as a prisoner of war.
McCain also criticized the relationship between Obama and Putin earlier this year when Obama’s private comments to then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev were caught on a live mic. Obama, in the conversation, asked Medvedev to pass on to Putin his comment that “after my election, I [will] have more flexibility.”
