Himes tweets calorie, carbon counts to support biking
It has been a record-breaking hot summer in DC, but that hasn't deterred the many loyal users of Capital Bikeshare (CaBi), Washington's public bike sharing program. With more than 15000 bikes at over 165 locations in the District and Arlington, CaBi has made getting around the area just a little more fun, fast and green. Among the fans is Rep. Jim Himes (D-Ct.), who took to Twitter on Monday to proclaim the many benefits of the service, which runs $75 for an annual subscription.
Love DC @bikeshare! I just logged on and saw that I've burned 3800 calories and saved 70 lbs of carbon since I signed up! #bikenerd

Although the only member of Congress to recently tweet about his love of two wheels, Himes certainly isn't the only one to proclaim his support for biking. In fact, it's a mode of transport both sides of the aisle seem to like: just ask the more than 160 members of the Congressional Bike Caucus.
