Gingrich, campaigning for Romney, still tweeting about animals
Newt Gingrich isn't running for president anymore, but that leaves more time for him to tweet about one of his favorite subjects: animals.
On Thursday, Gingrich's attention was caught by "two FBI bloodhounds" aboard his flight to Florida. The former candidate for the Republican presidential nomination was on his way to campaign for Mitt Romney in Jacksonville. He tweeted about the dogs before his plane took off and after landing.
On a plane with two fbi bloodhounds and their handler. Feels like we should be in a movie. Dogs are very child friendly. Kids like them

The two fbi bloodhounds were quiet and friendly for the entire two hour flight to jacksonville. I think they impressed everyone on the plane

Gingrich took advantage of his own presidential campaign to plan a visit to the zoo in many of the cities where he campaigned, often tweeting about his visits. In April, a penguin bit the former House Speaker at the zoo in St. Louis. In May, he named the San Diego Zoo as his favorite and —appropriately — the Republican said his favorite animal is the elephant. Earlier this month, he tweeted his review of the zoo in Rome.

He went on to speak to volunteers at Romney's Jacksonville headquarters in the afternoon.
