Senators to guest star on 'Parks and Recreation'
Three senators will make cameo appearances on an early episode of next season's "Parks and Recreation," the NBC sitcom known for it's send-up of local politics.
Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Olympia Snowe (R-ME), and Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) were all on hand Friday at the Hay-Adams Hotel to film a cocktail party scene for the show.
McCain tweeted a picture of himself with the show's star, Amy Poehler, and predicted the episode could garner an Emmy award.
Had a great time shooting @ParksandRecNBC today w/ Amy Poehler - I think it's an Emmy! lockerz.com/s/226504782

In the show's season finale, Poehler's love interest, played by Adam Scott, left the fictional town of Pawnee, Ind. to take a job working on a congressional campaign. Poehler's obsession with Washington political figures — particularly successful female politicians — is a running gag on the show.
According to the New York Times, NBC currently plans for the episode to air Sept. 27, which would slot it as the second episode of the fifth season. But series co-creator Michael Schur told the paper that the episode might instead serve as the season premier a week earlier.
