Hanna spoke highly of his Democratic friends in Congress to the The Syracuse Post-Standard editorial board on Monday. He said Democrats are “much more congenial” and that Republicans are “angry.”

“If all people do is go down there and join a team, and the team is invested in winning and you have something that looks very similar to the shirts and the skins, there’s not a lot of value there,” he said, according to the paper.  He also warned that House Republicans are becoming “incapable of governing” by habitually deferring to “extremes.”

McDermott tweeted that he agrees with the freshman Republican.
“Does this count as bipartisan?” McDermott asked, following the first tweet with an invitation to switch parties.
