Republicans tweet their praise of Ryan pick

News of presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s vice presidential pick spread quickly across the Twitterverse Saturday morning, with several prominent Republicans offering their praise.

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), herself once in the running for the VP slot, tweeted her support.

Fantastic VP choice with Paul Ryan. Romney-Ryan ticket will get our fiscal house in order and get Americans working again!

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, also rumored to be in the running for the post in months past, weighed in.

“Great choice by @MittRomney to pick @RepPaulRyan as his VP,” he wrote.

Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, also gave his seal of approval Saturday.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), a Romney campaign surrogate, called the VP pick “awesome” and said the selection of “Romney-Ryan gives the country the best ticket possible.”

Onetime competitor with Romney for the GOP presidential nomination, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, also offered his support for the pick.

“Paul Ryan, conservative budget hawk . . . excellent choice who will underscore MR commitment to downsize Washington and restore job creation,” he wrote.
