Boehner: Security officer in FRC shooting ‘is a hero’

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) tweeted Wednesday afternoon that he agrees the security officer injured earlier in the day while stopping a gunman entering the Family Research Council (FRC) building “is a hero.”

The security guard was shot when a man attempted to enter the building in Washington, D.C.'s busy Chinatown neighborhood Wednesday morning.

"As far as I'm concerned, the security officer here is a hero," D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier told the Washington Examiner. "The [shooter] never made it past him."

Boehner joins several other Republicans in the House who had already sent thoughts and prayers to the FRC following the incident.
