Rep. West singles out Stacey Dash as example of courage
Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) addressed black Christian voters in a Facebook post this week urging them to reconsider "blind obedience to the Democrat party."
West also singled out actress Stacey Dash as an example of a black voter with the "courage" not to vote Democratic.
West's Monday evening post reads:
Black Christians should no longer sacrifice their faith for blind obedience to the Democrat party. The values of the black community are conservative in their foundation. Those values of faith, family, individual responsibility, education, and entrepreneurship must translate into votes for the future of our children and grandchildren. It takes courage to stand, Stacey Dash is an example.
Dash, an actress best known for the 1995 movie "Clueless," tweeted her plan to vote for Mitt Romney last week and quickly became the target of racially tinged threats on Twitter.
She earned support from the GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan, who called her personally, as well as former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain.
To @realstaceydash: Stay TRUE to yourself, don't be afraid to THINK for yourself and by all means keep expressing yourself!
