Trump's teased Obama 'announcement' trending online

Trump told Fox News earlier this week that he would reveal “very big news” about President Obama on Wednesday that could significantly affect the November election.

Trump's tease of "big news" was greeted with some skepticism, in part because the businessman has a flare for drama, as demonstrated by his reality TV show "The Apprentice," and due to previous "announcements" regarding Trump's belief that Obama is hiding his real birth certificate and college records. He also predicted Monday that a veritable media circus would follow his announcement, although on Tuesday Trump wrote on Facebook, "This is not a media event or about Donald J. Trump — this is about the United States of America."

However, Trump has successfully generated high online interest in what he is suggesting might be the "October surprise" that traditionally occurs in the last few weeks before the election.

Trump, a prolific tweeter with more than 1 million followers, tweeted Wednesday that "all predictions" so far of what his announcement contains are "totally incorrect."

Trump supports Mitt Romney and last year considered launching his own bid for the presidency.
