McCain says he's not Arizona Powerball winner

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is not one of the two winners that split the $587.5 million Powerball lottery jackpot, he said Thursday.

McCain's tweet follows reports that two people, one in Missouri and one in Arizona, both picked the winning numbers for the record jackpot. The winners have not yet come forward to claim their prize.

The prize rose to over $587.5 million after 16 previous jackpots did not have a winner. The record sum sparked a buying spree of lottery tickets. According to NBC, 130,000 lottery tickets were selling per minute nationally Wednesday evening.
