Rep. Himes comments on 'Downton Abbey' popularity

Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) joked that he joined a large number of Twitter users in settling in for Sunday night's third-season premiere of period drama "Downton Abbey."

Ok. Downtown Abbey season three starting. Expect no tweets for an hour.

Himes signed off Twitter for the night shortly after, but did not keep his vow of silence for the episode - which was actually two hours long. He sent one more tweet a few minutes later.

Himes might not be serious about watching the popular British import in its U.S. premiere on PBS on Sunday night, but he would be in good company — first lady Michelle Obama and new Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nev.) are reportedly fans of the show.
