Kelly Clarkson 'excited' to sing at presidential inauguration

Kelly Clarkson is preparing to belt out "America (My Country 'Tis of Thee)" on the National Mall for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The pop star, winner of the first season of FOX singing competition "American Idol," tweeted that she is "excited & honored" to participate in the presidential inauguration later this month.

Beyonce, a favorite of the first lady, will perform the national anthem at the presidential inauguration and James Taylor will perform “America the Beautiful.”

Beyonce and Taylor are more politically active than Clarkson, who actually tweeted support for Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) last year during the presidential election.
