The days might be getting longer and warmer, but flu season is also spreading, according to Congress and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) already got his flu shot, tweeting a photo earlier this week, and he and other members of Congress are urging their constituents to take precautions this winter.

On Wednesday, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino (D) declared a public health emergency in response to widespread reported cases of influenza. Massachusetts Reps. James McGovern (D) and Niki Tsongas (D) both tweeted out warnings to their followers.

Rep. Jim Renacci (R-Ohio) got proactive as well.
