Washington D.C.’s Mayor Vincent Gray (D) thanked President Obama on Tuesday for changing his license plates in a symbolic move to show solidarity with the District.
Have spoken to White House & want to thank @barackobama for agreeing to place "Taxation w/o Representation" DC tags on his limo. #FreeDC

The license plates were used by former President Bill Clinton but removed by former President George W. Bush. They express solidarity with the District’s bid for a vote in Congress.
The District City Council last week passed a resolution requesting that Obama use the plates and delivered a custom-made plate to the White House, according to The Washington Post.
