Romney wishes Ryan happy birthday in rare Facebook post

Mitt Romney's social media accounts have gone largely dark since the former presidential nominee was defeated in November, but on Tuesday the former Massachusetts governor used Facebook to wish his former running mate a happy birthday.

"Ann and I send many blessings and best wishes to Paul Ryan today," Romney wrote. "Join us and wish him a Happy Birthday!"

Rep. Ryan celebrated his 43rd birthday on Tuesday.

Even though Romney has seen a dramatic decline in followers since his loss in November, more than 350,000 people "liked" the post on Tuesday.

Romney's page has been mostly dormant since a pair of posts shortly after the presidential election thanking supporters for their vote. Since then, Romney has posted just three other times, each a holiday message to supporters.
