In light of this weekend's Labor Day holiday, House Democrats tweeted their "Labor Heroes," or individuals who inspired their pro-labor positions.

The official Twitter account of the House Education and Labor Committee Democrats tweeted links to blog posts by lawmakers on the committee detailing their "heroic" picks.

For example, Committee Chairman George Miller (D-Calif.) tweeted that his "hero" is the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.):

Chairman George Miller's #LaborHero is Senator Ted Kennedy. Find out why - - Who is yours?

"With Sen. Kennedy’s death, we have a moment to reflect on these values and why he felt strongly about ensuring that every American worker is treated with dignity and respect," Miller wrote in his blog post.

Other committee members to submit their picks were House Progressive Caucus Chairman Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.), Rep. Phil Hare (D-Ill.), Rep. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) and Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.).
