Wilson tweets for first time following outburst

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) took to Twitter for the first time after shouting "you lie!" at President Obama during his Wednesday night address to Congress, thanking his supporters for their "understanding and support."

Wilson tweeted as he appeared on conservative talk radio host Sean Hannity's show for his first interview since the incident:

Thank you all for your understanding and support. I'm on Sean Hannity radio now. Listen in.

The fifth-term Republican shouted his remark after Obama said that his health plan would not insure illegal immigrants, earning a stern glare from the president.

He also tweeted a link to his campaign site:

Sean Hannity urged listeners to stand with me against liberal attacks at http://joewilsonforcongress...

Wilson's Democratic opponent Ron Miller has raised over $400,000 since Wilson made his jab.

Another item to note: Wilson now has more than 8,200 Twitter followers after having only 2,300 before last night's speech.
