Congressman: Pelosi should go after Grayson for remark

By Jordan Fabian - 09/30/09 09:17 AM ET

A Republican congressman on Thursday urged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to organize a vote to reprimand Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) similar to action taken against Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.)

Grayson caused controversy on the House floor yesterday afternoon when he said "the Republican healthcare plan is this: die quickly."

Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) took to Twitter to call on Pelosi to officially rebuke Grayson:

Will Pelosi hold vote to reprimand #Grayson? http://bit.ly/4pGUWN Or was JWilson reprimand just partisan politics after all? #tcot

A couple of weeks ago, the House voted to condemn Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) after he shouted "you lie!" at President Barack Obama during his speech to a joint session of Congress on September 9.

Several House Republicans chastised Grayson on the House floor after his comment.

Well, I've seen stupid, but it drops my jaw that McHenry can equivocate those two. Joe Wilson interrupted the President during a state of the union address to make his remarks. Grayson had the floor of the House.Even without mentioning the content of their words, that's a world of difference already.BY Daniel on 09/30/2009 at 11:06
The mayority Republicans do not want a healthcare reform because,First,T he President is a Democrat.Second,No matter what they do not want to work and cooperate with the People of this Great Country anf finally,They protect corporations,In surance companies and drug manufacturers. The Healtcare Reform is a total political matter>politicians do not give a dam about the healthcare for people.BY Hernan Alban on 09/30/2009 at 11:08
I see no reason for him to Apologise; Joe Wilson Didn't.Besides Republicans in Texas in 1999 pass a law George W Bush signed allowing "Death Panels' to kill people who may have a Terminal illness or injury to be unplugged or treatment withheld until they die.Private health Insurance companies love the Idea.Life insurers may have a problem though?BY Donaldd on 09/30/2009 at 11:12
That's rich, members of the Republican party want to chastise a Democrat for telling the truth about Republican views on health case (If you can't afford it you can die) and they want a reprimand. While they get up and claim the POTUS wants to kill the elderly and call other member in congress that served in the military "Cowards" and consider that perfectly alright. Talk about double standards.BY Kamisama on 09/30/2009 at 11:14
When Texas "Death Panel" law passed the Republican pretty boy John Cornyn ® Attorney General had no Objections.BY Donaldd on 09/30/2009 at 11:16
Are you kidding…obviousl y its OK to insult Republicans in the hallowed halls but if you tell the truth about a democrat then that is not OK. What a bunch of biased, ignore the facts, Hill hypocrites the Democrats are! All of this liberal slander/bias makes us middle of the road Independent Americans realize what a great president Bush was!BY SBHLocal on 09/30/2009 at 12:35
y'all need to get a grip on reality. Joe from S.C. wasa telling the truth and even Democrats admitted that waht the president said about not covering illegals was a lie. Joe's only fault was that he couldn't hold his tongue. Republicans have tried and tried to be included in the health care reform bill but have been rebuffed all along the way. Democrats did not want any Republican input. Personally I hope reform fails because I am completely satisfied with my insurance and want to keep it just as it is. At the beginning of Obama's tenue I thought it was possible to write a reform bill that would cover uninsured people that would not wreck the economy or the insurance of the people who are already covered. I have seen figures that indicate that there are 30 million people without coverage and that's out of a total population of roughly 360 million. Why wreck the entire system to cover a small number of folks? The aganda is not coverage for all citizens, it is control of another segment of our lives. Besides, we are buried inder a load of debt that we will never be able to repay!BY Joyce on 09/30/2009 at 13:22
Every rep who has made a jackass statement in the last year must immediately resign and leave the House.[crickets]BY J Dal on 09/30/2009 at 14:16
Republicans did NOTHING during their tenure in charge to work on the healthcare. Now, people like Joyce take solace in the fact that it's "ONLY 30 MILLION" people that don't have any healthcare. Even if the number is that low, it's a HUGE number of people. Oh, but her healthcare is just fine, so why change everything? How incredibly selfish are these people?BY bartonizer on 09/30/2009 at 15:29
What a totally classless way to get a point across. Reminds me of "Bush lies, people die". I would expect a comment like this on a playground with bullies; oh yes, the Democrats have taken over the playground.BY Mary Kay on 10/01/2009 at 14:10
