Twitter is currently consumed with talk about the Olympics on a day when the International Olympic Committee eliminated Chicago from consideration for the 2016 games.

Chicago, IOC, Madrid, Tokyo, Copenhagen, Oprah, and Summer Olympics represent seven out of ten of Twitter's trending topics, which are the most popular subjects of conversation on the site. Chicago is the top topic.

Chicago's bid grabbed a significant amount of national attention after President Barack Obama traveled to Copenhagen to sell the IOC commissioners today on the Windy City's virtues as a host city. Television host Oprah Winfrey also joined the president and First Lady Michelle Obama in touting the games overseas.

Obama is not among the top ten topics.

Madrid and Tokyo are other cities the IOC had considered for a bid. Tokyo was eliminated while Madrid and Rio de Janeiro are still in the running to host the summer games in six years.
