Rep. Mary Fallin's (R-Okla.) Twitter account has been attacked by a phishing scam in which an outside user hacks into an online account using fraudulent means.
The attack on Fallin is one of the only lawmakers to fall victim to a phishing scam. She just sent out this tweet:
if you just received a DM from my account, pls do not open it. It is a phishing link. Apologies and have a great day!
Phishing scams are typical initiated when a user clicks on a link spam e-mail or social network message, which allows the hacker to access the user's personal information.
A couple weeks ago, the FBI reported that such attacks were becoming more frequent.
