Palin tweets for the first time in nearly four months
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's old Twitter account posted a tweet today for the first time since late July, a sign that her new Twitter account will soon become active.
@AkGovSarahPalin, the account used when the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, Republican was still in office put up a message today telling its 153,470 followers that it will tweet on its new handle @SarahPalinUSA:
This account will be deleted soon...a private account has been established @ SarahPalinUSA
Republican new media strategist David All criticized Palin's decision to create an entirely new account, which forces her to build an entirely new base of followers. By deleting her old account, she will lose all of her old followers.
Her team knows nothing about Twitter. Awful. RT @Jordanfabian: Another sign that @SarahPalinUSA will become active soon? http://is.gd/4XlBs
Doesn't @SarahPalinUSA realize that she could keep @AKGovSarahPalin account and simply change the handle? Also, @sarahpalin is hers...
I've discussed this before. @sarahpalin is being run by a supporter who has said @SarahPalinUSA could have the acct if she asked.
Despite All's criticism, it is likely that Palin will regain many of her old followers after she switches accounts. Twitter accounts gain more followers as they tweet more often and Palin's public profile is large enough to attract a significant amount of Twitter followers.
