McCaskill tweets after White House state dinner

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) tweeted snippets from Tuesday night's White House state dinner after the event and on Wednesday morning.

McCaskill earlier on Tuesday said she thought it would be too "tacky" to tweet during the dinner in honor of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's state visit to the U.S.

Though several lawmakers attended last night's black tie affair, McCaskill is the only one known to have tweeted about it.

Here are all of the senator's updates:

Jennifer Hudson was amazing. Jazz singer Kurt Elling also very good. National Symphony w/Marvin Hamlisch conducting was their accompaniment

Prime Minister Singh seemed genuinely moved by the warm welcome. Our alliance with India very important.I think tonight stregnthened it.

Sat by David Axelrod last night, one of the truly good guys. Talked about family...and healthcare.

Also so my kids will be impressed, had a nice visit last night with the founders of Facebook. So young.

McCaskill also shared a photo of her husband Joseph Shepard at the dinner:

Photoset: I know most folks want pictures of the President, First Lady, Jennifer Hudson, Stephen Spielberg,... http://tumblr.com/xbx48qifu
