Twitter adopts red theme for World AIDS Day
Twitter has adopted a red color scheme in honor of World AIDS Day on Tuesday and has also created ways to tweet to mark the day.
Here is more from Twitter's official blog:
Our friends at Product Red are making it easy for us to help fight AIDS by partnering with companies that make the products we buy already. For example, these red laces Nike designed to both raise awareness and help financially. At Twitter, we're making it fun and easy to spread the word about this preventable and treatable disease that is hitting Africa the hardest. If you use any of the following terms below today on Twitter your tweet will turn red. Today is World AIDS day, help us spread the word.
#red donates 100% of the profit to the Global Health Fund
@joinred is the official account of the (RED) campaign
40 cents can keep someone with AIDS alive
World AIDS Day is the perfect day to tweet for a cause
AIDS affects 33 million people around the world
Africa is where 22 million of these people live
HIV is a virus that can be expelled
#laceupsavelives is Nike's own campaign
We've also created a red theme which you can switch to in your profile settings. Don't forget to follow @joinred to stay informed. Here are some of the success stories.
Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes (D) tweeted in honor of the day designed to bring awareness of the deadly immune disease:
World AIDS Day: Thousands of Americans don't know they're HIV+. We could save so much heartbreak/money with better education and prevention.
