

Lawmaker tweets about Salahis' absence from W.H. gatecrasher hearing
Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) on Thursday took to Twitter to note the absence of the White House state dinner crashers at a hearing examining the incident.
Himes, a freshman member of the House Homeland Security Committee, tweeted:
Director of Secret Service now answering questions for HS committee. Salahis apparently not showing up to testify.
In a statement issued through their publicist on Wednesday, Michaele and Tareq Salahi declined to testufy at today's hearing.
Committee chairman Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) threatened to subpoena the Virginia couple after they issued the statement. The action would compel them to testify before the panel.
Secret Service Director Michael Thompson is testifying before the committee today.
