Rep. Neil Abercrombie tweets resignation

Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii), who announced his resignation on Friday, took to Twitter to bring his followers into the loop.

Abercrombie said he was resigning in order to focus on his campaign for governor of Hawaii. Here is the tweet:

Aloha. After much thought, I’m resigning from Congress to focus all my efforts on becoming our next Governor. Read why: http://ow.ly/L4eT

In the linked statement, the congressman said he would officially announce his resignation on Sunday.

"This decision is about what you deserve in a candidate for Governor. I am asking you to go “all in” by choosing to place your faith, trust, and vote with me," he said.
