McCaskill: Congratulations

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) said "congratulations" on Friday to the Republican senators who broke with their party in a late-night vote to advance a defense authorization bill.

She tweeted Friday:

Congratulations to the three women Senators that are the only R's who voted to fund the troops last night. They refused to play along.

Republicans had hoped to stop cloture on the bill as a way of delaying the overall debate over healthcare reform. Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) broke ranks to support cloture.
