Louisiana Dems launch Twitter petition pressuring Vitter on break-in incident
Louisiana Democrats launched a Twitter petition Thursday pressuring Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) to condemn the break-in at Sen. Mary Landrieu's (D-La.) office this week.
The petition, which Twitter users can paste into their account and send out, reads:
petition @DavidVitter to Come clean and condemn the Louisiana Watergate! http://act.ly/1np RT to sign #actly #LouisianaWatergate
Vitter did say in a statement "I’ve seen the news reports, and it’s obvious this is a very serious matter.
"We’re blessed with an extremely competent U.S. attorney’s office in New Orleans, and I know they’ll handle this as aggressively as they have other serious cases."
This week, four men were charged in the break-in at Landrieu's New Orleans office including James O'Keefe, 25, who gained notoriety for his undercover videos of ACORN employees filmed last summer.
Louisiana Democrats point to the fact that Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.) has condemned the incident in pressuring Vitter.
The Republican senator's office has commented specifically on the petition.
The petition's website can be found here.
