Rep. Melancon's Twitter feed suspended
The campaign Twitter account of Sen. David Vitter's (R-La.) Democratic opponent has been suspended due to "strange activity."
Rep. Charlie Melancon's account (@melancon2010) has been inactive for several days because of a "technical issue or error," said campaign spokesman Jeff Giertz Tuesday night.
"We're working to resolve the problem with Twitter and it will hopefully be resolved soon," Giertz said. "Once the problem is resolved, the site should be operational again."
Giertz denied that the account had been hacked, as other lawmakers' accounts have, but could not identify the exact cause of the problem.
Before it was made inactive, Melancon's account often tweeted campaign appearances, policy stances and criticisms of Vitter.
