Jeb Bush appears to join Twitter

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) appears to have joined Twitter.

A profile bearing the name of ex-President George W. Bush's brother (@JebBush) popped up on Twitter Tuesday. 

The Twitter account is quickly gaining followers, going from 38 to 92 in about one minute. The one account @JebBush follows is that of Excellence in Education, a non-profit group he founded.

Jeb Bush has been discussed as a potential candidate for Senate and for the White House but has previously frequently about a potential run.

It is not yet 100 percent clear if the account does belong to Bush. It has not yet made a tweet and has not been verified by Twitter.

Verification is usually conducted by Twitter to indicate that a notable user's account is authentic.

The office of George W. Bush last October stamped out rumors that the 43rd president would join the microblogging service.

UPDATE 

Republican tech consultant Jordan Raynor says that he has confirmed that the account belongs to Bush.
