Gillibrand says she will take up Massa's constituent services
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) assured residents of her state's 29th congressional district through Twitter Thursday they would be looked after in lieu of their representative's resignation.
Freshman Democrat Eric Massa had held the seat until Monday, when he stepped down amidst an ongoing ethics investigation and allegations he had groped a male staffer.
The senator tweeted:
#NY29 residents, in the absence of a rep, I've made arrangements to ensure you get all the federal resources and help from the govt you need
Gov. David Paterson (D) has said a special election to replace Massa will be held "as soon as possible."
