Sestak hopes to repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' by the summer

By Jeremy P. Jacobs - 05/08/09 09:47 AM ET
Democratic congressman and possible Pennsylvania Senate candidate Joe Sestak on Friday tweeted a link to a recent interview he gave on the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.
I believe that all Americans, regardless of sexual preference, have a right to serve their country in the military http://tinyurl.com/qurqkv

Sestak, a retired Navy admiral, appeared on MSNBC's "The Rachel Maddow Show" to discuss the dismissal of Dan Choi from the Natoinal Guard because he is gay.

The link jumps to YouTube footage of Sestak's appearance. Sestak said he has "never understood" the policy. "It's just not right," he said.

Sestak also says he wants Congress and the president to repeal the policy by this summer.

"Congress, with this president, needs to act upon this," he said.
