Twitter gives comic character life of his own

By Michael O'Brien - 05/08/09 09:31 AM ET
Twitter has inspired its fair share of impostors, but for one comic, Twitter has become the real-life home for a fake person.

Twitter is home to the well-utilized stream of Roland Hedley, a fictional character in the political comic strip Doonesbury created by Garry Trudeau.

The Hedley character, said to be based on longtime ABC Newsman Sam Donaldson, is a journalist working for Fox News, and, according to Twitter, has been based in Pakistan covering the latest conflict there.

Until now. Hedley tweeted Friday:
Ordered home to cover Ashton Kutner, guest @ WH Correspondents dinner. Paradox: Leaving war zone but want to kill myself.
