McCaskill strikes a nerve

By Eric Zimmermann - 04/21/09 08:04 PM ET
Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) struck a nerve late Tuesday night when she introduced a little family news into the Twittersphere:
Just talked my 17 year old, sweet Lily. She is all worried about her exam tomorrow on the Civil War.I remember being worried about tests..ugh.

Apparently, "Mary MacElveen" did not like this. At all. She responded to the Senator:
Senator, do we really NEED to hear of how your daughter Lily will do on a history exam? People are going without health care!

McCaskill seemed a little taken aback. She tweeted a response:
Gosh, sorry @MaryMacElveen,I just wanted to give her a shout out.Makes her feel good.Hoping small amt personal stuff doesnt diminish serious.
