Specter launches Web 2.0 assault on Toomey

Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), taking an aggressive tack toward likely primary challenger Pat Toomey, launched a multiplatform Web 2.0 attack today.
Specter tweeted an attack against Toomey, former chairman of the fiscally conservative Club for Growth, which linked through to a document on Specter's Facebook page.
Specter tweeted:
The link follows through to a letter Specter has written to Toomey insinuating that Toomey had intentionally excluded his background in the financial services sector in an online biography.
The strategy represents a concerted online effort against Toomey's campaign using latest-generation social networking and blogging software to advance a political message, a tactic in which Republicans have lacked in recent elections.
