Va. Dem candidates will face off in Twitter-driven debate

By Michael O'Brien - 04/06/09 06:54 AM ET
Virginia Democrats will have an opportunity to question primary candidates for governor via Twitter and other social networking sites in what may be the first gubernatorial debate hosted by the liberal netroots of blogs.

Democratic candidates for governor Creigh Deeds, Terry McAuliffe and Brian Moran will participate in a debate April 29th hosted by Huffington Post, Virginia Tech's campus newspaper, and liberal blogs firedoglake and Not Larry Sabato.

"You can ask as many questions as you want- and they will all be given equal consideration," Not Larry Sabato wrote in the event's announcement.

The sites are soliciting questions through Twitter and YouTube ahead of the debate, marking maybe one of the first netroots-driven political campaign events in modern history.

Check out the Twitter feed for the debate here.
