Billionaire Warren Buffett joined Twitter on Thursday, and with one tweet, gained more than 76,000 followers.Â
The tweet is the only one on the verified account as of early Thursday afternoon.
Buffett's name has made headlines in political news in the last few months when President Obama unveiled his 2014 budget. The budget factors in revenue from the so-called "Buffett Rule," named after the Omaha, Neb., billionaire, which requires households that take in a yearly income of $1 million or more to pay a 30 percent tax rate excluding charitable deductions.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) panned President Obama's statement Friday that a "line has been crossed" but that "direct evidence" is still needed to verify Syria's chemical weapons attack.
Earlier on Friday, Obama at the White House, speaking next to King Abdullah of Jordan, said the United States, as well as a number of other countries, is currently in the process of confirming reports of Syria's chemical weapons attack against rebels in the country.
"Knowing that there's chemical weapons in Syria doesn't tell us when they were used or how they were used," Obama said. "We ourselves will be putting a lot of resources on this."
