The National Rifle Association has gone silent on its social media
accounts in the wake of the tragic mass shooting at an elementary school
in Newtown, Conn., on Friday.
The gun-rights advocacy group appears to have removed its official
Facebook page from the social networking website. Attempts to access the
NRA's Facebook page were directed to a Wikipedia entry about the
lobbying organization. Comments or Web links shared by Facebook friends about the
organization are still visible below the lobbying group's Wikipedia
entry.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) hadn't officially named her choice to fill outgoing Sen. Jim DeMint's (R-S.C.) seat on Monday before Republicans began tweeting their acclaim.
Republican Rep. Ken Marchant (Texas) was quickest to congratulate Haley's choice, with a tweet to Rep. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) on the new job after a report by the New York Times that named him as Haley's choice.

Like many others — both in Connecticut and not — lawmakers representing the state were "horrified" by news of an elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn., on Friday. Reps. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) and Sen.-elect Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) both tweeted that they are praying, as full details slowly emerged from the incident.
