Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich accused President Obama of siding with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez when it comes to the recent coup in Honduras.
Gingrich blasted Obama for opposing the coup in Honduras, which the former GOP leader insisted would have left in place a "leftist dictatorship."
Gingrich tweeted Tuesday:
Sadly the obama administration has joined castro and chavez attacking honduran supreme court and congress for defending their constitution
Having castro call for defending democracy should convince any reasonable person that honduras was on the edge of a leftist dictatorship
The military coup in Honduras ousted President Manuel Zelaya, considered a leftist leader, after he'd pushed for a controversial referendum to extend his term limits.
The country's Supreme Court has defended the military coup, which installed the speaker of the country's legislature as interim president, as a necessary step to ensure democracy in the Latin American nation.

Fox News' senior White House correspondent Major Garrett received a significant upgrade to his Twitter page today. He tweeted:
I salute those hardy, genuinely tireless (not tireless in the DC cliche' sense) tweeps who pushed/created CARTOON MajoratWH. Much respect.
Garrett's new avatar, which is reminiscent of a South Park character, is not the first of its kind. Twitter addicts know that ABC's senior White House correspondent Jake Tapper has a similar icon. White House blogger Tommy Christopher also has a cartoon avatar.

(Top, Tapper; Bottom, Garrett)
Is Garrett's avatar cool or is it just a rip on his predecessors? Drama to ensure at White House press conferences? Discuss.

Rep. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) secured several important national endorsements for his 2010 Senate campaign. He tweeted:
Was pleased to be endorsed yesterday by Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, @NRSC and @SenJasonCrowell
The final endorsement is from state Sen. Jason Crowell.
Blunt is seeking to take over Sen. Kit Bond's (R) seat, who is stepping down at the end of this Congress. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch speculated that state Sen. Chuck Purgason, former state Treasurer Sarah Steelman, and former Bush administration official Thomas Schweich are all contemplating runs. These endorsements, combined with Blunt's name recognition, could put him over the top.
The GOP nominee will likely face Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan (D) in the general election.

The National Taxpayers Union made a brief but amusing observation about the federal bailouts. It tweeted:
Fiscal Advice from Jack Handey: With billions and billions for bailouts and stimulus spending, Congress seems to.. http://tinyurl.com/mqf3ok
Want to hear the rest of the joke? So do I. The link connects to the rest of the blog post:
... have taken fiscal advice from that renowned financial expert Jack Handey: "I hope that when I die, people say about me, 'Boy, that guy sure owed me a lot of money.'"

Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) tweeted that he would assume the top post on the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee today.
Just tapped to be top Republican on health subcommittee.
Price's subcommittee will be busy soon. Congress is expected to take up President Obama's healthcare reform proposal in the coming months. Rep. John Kline (R-Minn.), who was elected to serve as Ranking Member on the Education and Labor Committee, chose Price to head the subcommittee. Price is an orthopedic surgeon by training.
Price said in a statement:
With Americans deeply concerned about their financial, retirement, and health security, there are few subcommittees more relevant to today's central issues. And as health care reform comes to the forefront of public debate, I am eager to contribute my experience as a physician to a robust discussion.

Although the Waxman-Markey climate change legislation passed the House last Friday, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) still isn't happy about it.
He tweeted:
Waxman-Markey bill might love nature but it hates natural reality: http://bit.ly/15IZOZ
Issa links to Forbes' DigitalRules blog that alleges the bill's provisions for clean energy aren't enough to provide America with adequate electricity.

The White House announced today the launch of a new website designed to make data used by the federal government available to the public.
It tweeted:
On Tap: 2:00 President on innovation & nonprofits; 5:00 CIO Vivek Kundra live-stream chat on amazing new transparency project
The new project is entitled data.gov. The site says that its purpose its to "increase public access to high value, machine readable datasets generated by the Executive Branch." The site provides "provides a limited portion of the rich variety of Federal datasets presently available," but it promises to increase the amount of data available.
The Obama administration has faced criticism recently that they have not improved transparency since the Bush administration left the White House. Specifically, skeptics cite their refusal to make White House visitor records publicly available.

The AP style guide tweeted its suggestion on how to use the U.S. Constitution and the political world is up in arms.
Capitalize references to the U.S. Constitution with or without the U.S. modifier: The president said he supports the Constitution.
The president said he supports the Constitution! We can think of a couple presidents who hardly support the Constitution. All in good humor, folks.

Columbian President Juan Uribe is visiting the White house today, and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) has a message for him.
She tweeted:
Colombia's Pres. Uribe in DC. Has made + changes in his country: economic, hemispheric stability, safety of its citizens. Let's pass FTA.
Lehtinen showed strong support for passing the Columbian free trade agreement (FTA), which President Bush and most Republicans have backed for some time. Supporters of the FTA cite internal improvements in Columbia in backing the agreement.
Some Democrats, however, are skeptical of the agreement. They say improvements in Columbia are overstated and that the pact will cause greater unemployment in America. The Obama administration has not yet made a strong statement on the agreement, but administration officials opposed its inclusion in last year's stimulus package.
