Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) is having a dog day already.
According to his Twitter page, Perry's dog -- who he just calls "weiner dog" -- is having an allergic reaction this morning resulting in a trip to the veterinarian.
Perry tweeted Wednesday:
Weiner dog to the vet....what kinda strange allergies are out there??? Her eyes are almost swollen shut?

Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.) is warning Wednesday that President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan could result in $8/gallon gasoline.
Burton took to his Twitter page to spread the message:

Michigan Attorney Gen Mike Cox (R) formally announced his candidacy for governor of Michigan on Twitter Wednesday, marking the latest candidate to simultaneously announce a run for office on the microblogging website.
Cox, who has been exploring a bid for governor in a crowded Republican primary field, tweeted:
Today I am announcing that I am running for governor. Join the fight for MI's future at mikecox2010.com #rightmi #mc2010
Cox's premiere opponent in the Republican primary will be another prominent tweeter, Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R). Other candidates include Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, as well as perhaps former Gateway executive Rick Snyder.
The winner of the Republican primary is likely to face off against Lt. Gov. John Cherry (D).

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) hinted Tuesday that his appearance on Jay Leno's show tonight should make for good television.
Schwarzenegger tweeted:
Watch Jay Leno tonight - it's going to be a fantastic show.
This is Leno's last week of shows at the coveted 11:30 p.m. "Tonight Show" spot before eventually moving to a 10:00 slot. Schwarzenegger, of course, announced his fateful run for governor during an appearance on Leno's show.

Republicans are being cautious not to criticize Sotomayor too quickly after the announcement. But House Minority Leader John Boehner's (R-Ohio) recent tweet suggests he may have made up his mind already (for what it's worth, considering the House doesn't get a vote):

ABC News's Jake Tapper publicly called out two Twitter users who sent messages at Tapper containing controversial jokes.
Tapper blasted two users who mimicked Tapper questions under the subtext that they thought Tapper asks too many softballs in his work. Those jokes included references to Adolph Hitler and the biblical figure Pontius Pilate.
Tapper shamed the two publicly after the White House briefing, tweeting:
i would really appreciate it @wolfrum if u didnt send me jokes about "Jews" as "baby-eaters" or "Christ-killers." Not funny.
And:
and i would appreciate if @chloebeetle didnt RT jokes that use the Holocaust for humor as well. thanks
