Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Thursday shared what appeared to be an uncomfortable elevator ride shortly after McCain rebuked Paul on the Senate floor over his nearly 13-hour filibuster. In the picture, taken by the New York Times photographer Stephen Crowley and posted on his Twitter page, the senators appear to be avoiding eye contact with one another in the small elevator space.
Early on Thursday, McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), two senior Senate defense hawks, criticized statements Paul made in his attention-grabbing filibuster of CIA nominee John Brennan, saying he had "cheapened" the debate over drone policy by making "ridiculous" arguments. Paul later shot back that McCain and Graham “think the whole world is a battlefield.”
