Whoever said senators have a tough life? Sen. Claire McCaskill's recent tweet is likely a good portion of the twittersphere a little envious:
Oh happy day.Newspapers coffee screened porch jazz birds chirping gorgeous spring day with my family in the state I love.I'm one lucky gal.
And top top if off, she's not even up for re-election this year!

RedState's Erick Erickson has been doing some grooming today--both on his lawn and himself:
Mowed, blowed, weed whacked, showered, shaved, and considering a nap. Also firing up the Kindle for more of "1864"
Doesn't that first sentence have an almost song-like quality?

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) surprised Ana Marie Cox with one of her recent tweets:
Nothing better than beating the Cubs. Well, maybe winning the World Series. 4-3 Cards win.
Cox was shocked--SHOCKED!--to here such blasphemy. She tweeted a series of laments:
Tragic realization that @clairecmc roots against the Cubs making me reconsider her status as Coolest Politwit That Isn't Chuck Grassley.
I said this to @lehmannchris and be nodded solemnly. RT @xzqx How can you root against the Cubs? That's like rooting against Bambi.
@clairecmc roots against the Cubs? Really? Everything I thought was true suddenly is drawn into question... http://twitpic.com/3xzit
McCaskill seemed taken aback by Cox responses. McCaskill, of course, represents Missouri, which is hope to the St. Louis Cardinals. Isn't it logical--not to mention politically expedient--to vote for the cards? McCaskill responded:
A little worried about @anamariecox. I feel her slipping away. Not quite sure what to do about it, but know it doesntincludelovinthecubs.
Both McCaskill and Ana Marie Cox are top notch tweeters, we might add. Twitterr Room heartily recommends following both.

The National Organization for Marriage's (NOM) just tweeted a couple of doozies. First:
Thanks, Colbert Report! http://nomblog.com/?p=55
Intrigued, I followed the link to a press release "thanking" Stephen Colbert for parodying NOM's recent ad on his show.
"Thank you Stephen for playing our ad in full on national television--for free. HRC eat your heart out. Plus we all had a great chuckle, too!"
If that wasn't good enough, their second tweet announces one of the more interesting celebrity endorsements in ages:
National Organization for Marriage Welcomes Orson Scott Card to its Board of Directors http://tinyurl.com/c6gwb6
Follow the link to find this:
Orson Scott Card, a distinguished novelist, a professor of writing and literature at Southern Virginia University, and a columnist, recently joined the board of directors of the National Organization of Marriage (NOM).
"We're extremely honored that Orson Scott Card has joined with NOM in our shared mission to protect marriage and the faith communities that sustain it," said Maggie Gallagher, president of NOM, "He is one of the great science fiction writers of our time and a real voice of courage and intellect on behalf of marriage."
Yes-- THIS Orson Scott Card.

Fred Thompson's wife Jeri took control of his Twitter feed today:
This is Jeri & I want u all to know about Fred's 9-11 Story I just found out about: http://tinyurl.com/dltxjy #ftrs #tcot
The link goes to audio of Thompson's radio show, where Jeri appeared today and relayed the following anecdote:
"I got an email this morning from someone who was with Fred on 9/11. And she worked for Fred at that time and she said, 'I just have been listening to the show and wanted to let you know a story I bet you don't know about your husband, and that's that when we found out what happened, when we could see the smoke rising from the Pentagon, when everyone was scrambling to cover themselves to get out of the Capitol, realizing there was no escape route for anybody or plan for anybody...Secret Service came in and the Capitol Police came in and said 'Senator we must leave immediately. We must evacuate.' And Fred Thompson, she said, your husband said 'I will not leave. I will not go. We will not let them see us run. We will not let them see us leave.'"

Kos spots this fantastic coincidence regarding the Texas gub. primary:
The Texas primary next year falls on March 2nd, also known as "Texas Independence Day", a state holiday. KBH can't be happy about that.
Texas Independence Day marks the date when Texas declared independence from Mexico in 1836.

C-SPAN's "Washington Journal," a political institution featuring callers questioning and opining on prominent guests, is now incorporating Twitter into its longstanding format.
Twitter users can now follow the program at http://twitter.com/cspanwj, and, maybe more importantly, tweet their questions for guests.
Twitter joins phone, fax, and email as the latest medium through which viewers can pose their questions or comments on the program, which has been on-air since 1980.
Watch some videos of C-SPAN guests responding to tweets -- including the first time "Washington Journal" used Twitter -- after the jump.

CBS's Mark Knoller tweets:
George H.W. Bush tells Judy Keen he's still planning parachute jump on his 85th birthday.
The former president celebrated his 80th birthday in similar fashion.
