Markos Moulitsas (a.k.a., "kos" of the liberal blog Daily Kos) accused ABC White house correspondent Jake Tapper of carrying water for conservatives in his story about President Obama's trip to Iraq, only to have Tapper hit back.
Kos tweeted:
@jaketapper, The fictional Obama quote is fantastic Drudge bait! The right-wingers love it! http://bit.ly/hhEB2
At issue was the headline on Tapper's story about the surprise Obama visit, which originally quoted Obama as having apologized to Europe for his predecessor's time in office. (The story has now been updated to remove the quotes, with an asterisk added saying they were mistakenly inserted.)
Nonetheless, Tapper -- a frequent Twitter user -- fired back at Moulitsas:
@markosmoulistas that was changed, it was an editing error. Do you not think Obama should have expressed regret 4 the Bush years?
Tapper then followed up:
@markosmoulitsas I'm not saying he was wrong for continually expressing regret-i would think u would think it was right/smart
Tapper has been of a whipping boy of the press corps for liberals, who have accused him of being too friendly to conservatives. Tapper was the subject of a complimentary profile by National Review Online, a conservative web magazine, yesterday.

Newly-minted American Enterprise Institute President Arthur Brooks has joined Twitter, dropping a flurry of AEI promotion into the Twitter-verse.
Brooks tweeted today:
The tax increases will only affect the rich...so let's just say more people are "rich." http://tinyurl.com/dektq3 #TCOT
Last week, Brooks also talked up some of AEI's work, and referenced seeing @NewtGingrich, one of the conservative think tank's senior fellows, on a flight to Georgia.
Brooks isn't the only think tank head to be on Twitter, though. Heritage Foundation President Ed Feulner has been on the microblogging site since December 8, 2008.

ABC News White House Correspondent Jake Tapper, like other journalists accompanying President Obama to Iraq, found some time before his deadline to file with Twitter.
He said that the traveling press corps are crashing on filing their pieces about the president's trip -- only because they all have to leave so soon, just a short time after landing in the country.
Tapper tweeted:
now we're all crashing pieces bc soon after POTUS leaves Iraq we have to leave too

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) is giving President Obama credit for one thing: making better NCAA bracket picks than Gingrich.
Gingrich, who picked Louisville to win the tournament, checked in via Twitter hail Obama's superior picks.
Obama had picked North Carolina to win the tournament, which they did. The Tar Heels dispatched the Michigan State Spartans 89-72 in last night's national championship game.
Gingrich tweeted:
I have to confess I originally picked louisville to win so president obama was more prescient (in basketball)
