•APPROPRIATIONS. The National Association of Ordnance and Explosive Waste Contractors hired Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels to lobby on appropriations issues, Senate lobbying records show. The lobbying team consists of Marlene English and Ruth Ravitz Smith.

•ENERGY. Venn Strategies is lobbying for the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy Action Fund, a nonprofit organization that promotes “responsible energy choices in the Southeast,” according to the lobbying registration. The firm is following the climate change debate on Capitol Hill.
The Diamond Group is lobbying on behalf of the National Biodiesel Board on the farm bill, Senate records show.

•GAMING.
John Dudinsky is lobbying for the National Football League on issues related to sports betting.

•HIGH TECH. Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw is lobbying for the Business Software Alliance on patent reform, according to Senate lobbying records.

•INDIAN TRIBES.
Anderson Tuell is lobbying for the Leech Lake Bank of Ojibwe in Minnesota and a number of other Indian tribes, documents show.

•LOCAL GOVERNMENT. Ball Janik is lobbying for Boise, Idaho. M Victoria Cram is seeking local government funding for the city.

Port of New Orleans hired Patton Boggs and lobbyists John Breaux, a former U.S. senator from Louisiana, and Philip Bangert to secure funding for post-Katrina projects.  

Gadsden County, Fla., hired Artemis Strategies to lobby on an issue related to a local hospital.

•MISC. The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals hired DLA Piper to lobby on bills in the Senate and House that would require drain covers in pools and spas, lobbying records show.

Megan Gray is lobbying for the Craft & Hobby Association on issues related to “Orphan Works legislation and other intellectual property concerns,” Senate lobbying records show.

•TAXES.
David Horne is lobbying for HBK Capital Management on tax matters, according to Senate lobbying records.

•TECHNOLOGY
. McDermott Will & Emery is lobbying for Hewlett-Packard on government IT procurement, according to Senate lobbying records.

•UNIVERSITIES.
Gibbons & Co. is lobbying for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Senate records show.
