•CONSERVATION. John Nau, a Houston-based businessman and former chairman of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, hired Dutko Worldwide to lobby for “federal support for preservation initiatives,” according to Senate lobbying records.

•ENERGY. The Ben Barnes Group is lobbying for TransGlobal Petroleum, an oil exploration company. The Austin, Texas-based firm is working on a matter related to an energy issue with the nation of Jordan, according to the Senate lobbying registration.

Patton Boggs is lobbying for Invenergy, an electric power and wind energy company, on matters pertaining to “wind permitting and resource management issues within the [Bureau of Land Management],” according Senate lobbying records. Marti Allbright of Patton Boggs is listed on the registration as lobbying for Invenergy.

•ENVIRONMENT. The Gallatin Group is lobbying for Sustainable Northwest, a group based in Portland, Ore., on environmental and pro-growth issues. Anna Arodzero, Sara Bartles, J. Joseph Hardy, Dan Lavey and Greg Peden are lobbyists who are listed on the registration.

•STATES. The state of Illinois hired Cassidy & Associates to lobby on energy and water appropriations bills, according to Senate lobbying records. Cassidy lobbyists Kai Anderson, a former deputy chief of staff to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.); Thomas Dennis, a former utility executive and Energy Department adviser; and Martin Russo, a former Democratic congressman from Illinois, are listed on the lobbying registration.

•TRANSPORTATION. Valis Associates is lobbying for the Association of American Railroads. Wayne Valis and Virginia Parks have registered to lobby for the group and to “promote the economic health of the American freight railroad system,” according to the Senate lobbying registration.

•TRIBES. The Setter Group, based in Albuquerque, N.M., is lobbying on behalf of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, a “gaming related trade association of New Mexico federally recognized tribes,” according to the Senate lobbying form.

•WATER RESOURCES. Baker & McKenzie is lobbying for a number of clients on a matter pertaining to the water resources development law. One client is forest products company Weyerhaueser, Senate records show.
